Dear Student,

It is with great pleasure that we write to you to introduce this year's scholarship application for the James Graham Brown Honors and Chancellor Scholarships. The criteria are attached and for those who qualify, we look forward to hearing from you. This year, for the first time, the same faculty-based Honors Committee will be examining the submissions, interviewing the finalists, and making the decisions for both awards. These are full tuition scholarships, with other benefits as well, as these are both prestigious programs.

The James Graham Brown Honors Program, for example, is an elite program that attracts the top tier of students. The current number of twenty-five is the largest number ever, and, by design, a maximum is thirty students for the entire four years. Each year five to eight students graduate, having spent one to four years in the program. If you are not chosen upon your entrance into Thomas More College, yet you continue to achieve a 3.6 GPA or higher, we encourage you to apply again.

The program features unique Honors Seminars, a highly-praised Service Learning Program with an urban elementary school, and a year-long set of Leadership Workshops, coordinated by a TMC alumni who is a successful business woman and a recognized expert on leadership. For students who spend more than two years in the program, there is also an opportunity to participate in a one-on-one research project with a faculty member in the student's major. This research, known as a Fellowship, usually leads to opportunities for delivering research at regional and national conferences.

The Chancellor's Scholarship, is a unique full tuition scholarship to parochial students. Each year, as a Diocesan College, TMC offers one Chancellor's Scholarship to each of our nine Diocese of Covington high schools and three additional Chancellor's Scholarships to students enrolled in parochial schools beyond the Diocese of Covington. Within the Diocese, students are competing with other students in their school's graduating class. The most important point for you to keep in mind is that the same Faculty Committee will study the submissions, conduct the interviews and award the scholarships.

Information on the scholarships, including minimum academic requirements, is enclosed. Thank you for your consideration. For additional information please contact Billy Sarge in the Admissions Office at (859) 344-3402 or email at billy.sarge@thomasmore.edu.

Sincerely,

Raymond G. Hebert, PhD.
