Successful Freezer Meals

Making freezer meals reduces food waste, improves nutrition, and helps alleviate the cost of eating out. During this program we will discover combination dishes that can be made in advance and frozen, plus review foods that do and do not freeze well. Make your life easier by cooking and freezing ahead!

Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement

This information-rich seminar introduces you to the concepts and practices that will help you spend your retirement comfortably and in control of your finances. Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement will demonstrate a conservative approach to wise money management and will help you identify lifestyle issues facing retirees. Students will learn to seek maximization of their income and more from their investments, Social Security and retirement plans. This course will also show participants how to protect their hard-earned assets from erosion due to inflation and the possible cost of long-term health care. The information you learn in Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement may pay dividends for the rest of your life!

Diabetes Tips

If you think back to when you were in grade school you might remember a fellow student who had diabetes. It seemed a rather mysterious condition. In Kentucky now you're likely to have a friend or family member who has diabetes. The latest estimates are that 40% of those over 40 have elevated blood sugar levels. We'll learn the basics of diabetes to take some of the mystery out of this disease.

Community of Creative Writers Workshops

We continue our Community of Creative Writing Series with two offerings designed to energize and inspire, a six-week evening series and a daylong writing retreat! Both options provide instruction and writing suggestions in multiple genres-poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction-and opportunities to share and receive feedback on your work within a community of writers-others who are seeking inspiration, skills and support for their creative work. Writers in any genre and with any experience level are invited to enroll in either or both offerings.

Session 1: Weekly Workshops
This workshop will inspire new writing projects using a variety of prompts, activities and readings. Sessions will include writing and sharing within a creative community, with attention to generating new material, gaining new information on craft and technique and developing revision skills.

Wednesdays: March 20- May 1, 6:30-8:00 p.m. (No class 4/10; group will gather at Joseph Beth/Crestview Hills for a reading by TMC Visiting Author Jeanne Bryner)

Session 2: One-day Writing Retreat
Write and revise amidst natural beauty. This one day retreat is held at Thomas More College's Biology Field Station Education Center & Lodge in California, KY. overlooking the Ohio River. The retreat will provide a balance of writing time, community sharing and writing instruction. Bring a potluck dish to share at lunch. (Kitchen facilities are onsite.)
