Academic Scholarships
To be considered for most merit-based scholarships, students need to submit an Application for Admission and Scholarship to the college. Scholarships awarded based on academic merit can be renewed each year provided the student maintain the conditions of the scholarship.
Note: Students in the TAP program are not eligible for these awards.

Departmental Scholarships
Several departments within Thomas More College offer scholarships to those qualifying students interested in pursuing a particular field of study. Art and fine arts, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, English, medical technology, pre-engineering, physics and social sciences all offer supplemental scholarships that vary in amount. Students should contact the respective department heads to learn more about the scope of the scholarships available. All departmental scholarship recipients must first be officially accepted for admission to the College. Contact the department heads for scholarship application deadlines.

Submit a letter of recommendation from a current chemistry teacher and a one page single spaced letter in which the student describes his/her interest in chemistry, chemistry related extracurricular activities and how majoring in chemistry is related to their long term goals.

| Computer Information Systems |
Full tuition scholarship |
Must plan to major in Computer and Information Science with an ACT of 23 or higher or an SAT of 1060 or higher, and a high school GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in a college prep curriculum. |
Submit one letter of recommendation from a Computer Information Systems math teacher, computer technology coordinator, or guidance counselor and a one page single spaced letter in which the student describes his/her interest in applying for the scholarship, what it is about computers that interests them, what value is added to a Computer Information Systems degree by having work related experience, a description of any computer experience they may have, either formal or self taught, and any creative or original computer activities in which they have participated.

| Theatre |

Applicants must plan to major in Theatre and maintain satisfactory progress. |
Candidates must submit a letter of recommendation from their high school drama coach or teacher and a resume of theatrical experience (performance and technical credits). Letters and resumes are due February 20.
Auditions/Interviews will be held on February 28 and March 6 in the Thomas More College theatre. Candidates should prepare a 1 – 3 minute monologue, with modern realism preferred. For more information, contact Dr. Jim Nelson, Theatre Department, at (859) 344-3421. |
| Fine Art Grant |

Submit a letter of recommendation from an art educator and a portfolio of no fewer than 10 items of the student’s own artwork. Portfolios are due March 19 and 20 from 3-6 pm. Pick up dates are March 25 and 26 3-6 pm.

| Darrell Brothers Memorial Art Scholarship |
$1,500 (non-renewable). |
Candidates must plan to major in Art and maintain satisfactory progress. |
Submit a letter of recommendation from an art educator and a written letter by the applicant stating goals and aspirations as a student in the Art Department at Thomas More College.
Students should also submit a portfolio of no fewer than 10 items of the student’s own artwork. Works submitted need not be matted but should be presented in a study portfolio. Sketchbooks may be included. Slides and color photographs may be submitted for three-dimensional works. Identify each with the student’s name, the medium and dimensions. An interview may be required.
Portfolios are due March 19 and 20 from 3-6 pm. Pick up dates are March 25 and 26 3-6 pm.

This scholarship is named in honor of the late Darrell Brothers who dedicated over 25 years to the Thomas More Art Department. The candidate for this award must demonstrate dedication to the visual arts. |
| Mathematics |

Must be a mathematics major and maintain satisfactory progress. |
Submit a letter of recommendation from their current mathematics teacher and a one page letter, describing your interest in mathematics, books read in the fields of math and science, and any extracurricular activities involving math or science.
Applications for Admission and Scholarship are due by March 2nd. |
| Medical Technology |
$500 to $1,000 - amounts vary and are renewable for four years. |
Candidates must be a Medical Technology major with an ACT of 25 or higher or an SAT of 1130 or higher and maintain satisfactory progress in the Medical Technology curriculum. |
Submit a letter of recommendation from a current biology teacher and a one page letter in which the student describes his/her interest in Medical Technology or Biology related extracurricular and how majoring in Medical Technology is related to the student’s long term goals.
Students who wish to be considered for this award should submit an Application for Admission and Scholarship by March 2nd.

| Physics & Pre-Engineering |

Candidate must be a Physics or Pre-Engineering major with an ACT of 24 or higher or an SAT of 1110 or higher and maintain satisfactory progress in the Physics/Pre-Engineering curriculum. |
Candidates need to submit two letters – one letter of recommendation from their current physics teacher or teacher of the highest level math course taken and a one page letter in which the student describes his/her interest in Physics or Pre-engineering, a description of any formal or self taught computer experience they have and any creative or original academic activities in which they have participated.
Application for Admission and Scholarship is due by March 2nd. |
| Social Sciences and Professions Scholarship Competition |
$5000 (Renewable as long as the recipient remains in the major). |
Any high school student who has been admitted to Thomas More College and who is interested in a major in Criminal Justice, Economics, Education, Nursing, Psychology or Sociology is eligible. |
Submit an essay based on a question posed by each discipline.

Students who are residents of Kentucky should apply to be considered for State Grants, such as Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG) $2,800* per year for full-time students, and College Access Program (CAP) grant up to $1,700* per year for full and part-time students.
