"Faith seeking understanding" is the classic definition of theology derived from St. Anselm of Canterbury in the 11th century.  As an academic discipline, theology provides a coherent, systematic, and critical study of divine revelation.  Christian theology interprets the meaning and history of the doctrines, liturgy and sacraments, the moral and spiritual traditions of the church.

A major in Theology ( or the associate degree) offers an academic preparation for:

  • Graduate programs in Theology or Religious Studies
  • A theological foundation for graduate studies in related fields such as religious education, pastoral counseling, ministry
  • A theological background for religion teachers and catechists, directors and coordinators of religious education, lay ministries e.g. liturgy, youth work, social services, pastoral, church - related positions, and leadership within church and society.
